This gemstone of courage is said to be named after the female Amazonian warriors. Some say, however, that it is simply named after the Amazon River in Brazil, where it is found embedded in boulders of hard granite. It is also called the Hope gemstone, since it inspires confidence and hope.

This bead is such a beautiful colour and I am so pleased to have received a lovely dark blue/ green bead with sparkle. Thank you, it looks so pretty with my pale rose quartz bead which picks up the green from the amazonite.
